Inside me
The small lie wants another. A number, an email, something you did not say. Think on what is true and pure. Trust the Lord more than the shortcut. A clean heart is created — you can ask for it after you cut corners, and then do right by the person it concerns.
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.
What it means
Fill your thoughts with what is true, pure, right and worthy of honour. What you look at long becomes inner climate.
How you can live it
Choose what you scroll. Close a voice that tears down. Fill with something true instead — a verse, a talk with a friend, a walk.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
What it means
Your understanding is a gift, not a god. You may think — but you do not need the whole map yourself. To count on the Lord is to take the next step on the way together with him, not to switch your brain off.
How you can live it
Before a choice: pray first, ask someone wise you trust, take the next right step without the whole map.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit.
What it means
A clean heart is not you polishing yourself until you look honest. It is asking God to start over on the inside — after a lie, after cheating, after the thing you hope nobody saw.
How you can live it
When shame says you are finished: confess honestly and ask for a clean heart. Then take one right step.
A prayer
Lord, create in me a clean heart. Give me courage to be true, even when it costs. Amen.
