Inside me
Adult temptation is rarely a game. It can be a chat that does not belong, a picture, a drink, a number in the books, a yes you do not mean. The pressure is human. The way out exists: put it down, walk out, say no, fetch someone. If you already crossed the line: you may start again. A clean heart is created, not polished into place.
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
What it means
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common. God is faithful. He provides a way out.
How you can live it
The way out is often: walk away, say no, get help. You are not the first to feel the pressure.
Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.
What it means
Guard your heart, for from it flow the springs of life. What enters shapes what leaves.
How you can live it
Guard what you watch and listen to this evening. Your heart is worth it.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit.
What it means
A clean heart is not you polishing yourself until you look honest. It is asking God to start over on the inside — after a lie, after cheating, after the thing you hope nobody saw.
How you can live it
When shame says you are finished: confess honestly and ask for a clean heart. Then take one right step.
A prayer
God, when it pulls — show the way out and give me courage to take it. Create in me a clean heart. Amen.
