When home feels safe

All topics

Home can grate. Home can also be food, someone who asks how you are, a place to fall asleep. When it is good: say so out loud. The peace of Christ and a heart that may rest in safety are gifts, not givens. The Lord rejoices over you — also on an ordinary evening at home.

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

What it means

Du kan somna även om dagen inte är löst. Friden kommer av att Herren låter dig bo i trygghet, inte av att allt är tyst.

How you can live it

Kvällsrutin: lägg telefonen, be en mening, vila. Trygghet är en person, inte ett tyst hus.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

What it means

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. Be thankful.

How you can live it

When the house is tense: ask peace to rule in you first. One thankful sentence helps.

the LORD, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.

What it means

The Lord your God is in your midst. He will rejoice over you with gladness.

How you can live it

When you feel like a burden: you are someone to delight in. Receive that.

A prayer

Thank you, God, for what is safe at home. Help me notice it, and share it. Amen.
